Conference of Ministers of Justice nominates members of the States' Commission

The members of the Länder Commission for the Prevention of Torture were officially nominated on 23 and 24 June 2010 in Hamburg during the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the States (Länder). The members are the following: 

  • Prof. Dr. Hansjörg Geiger, former State Secretary (chairman)
  • The Honorable Albrecht Rieß, Chief Judge at the Higher Regional Court of Stuttgart   
  • Prof. Dr. Dieter Rössner, Professor for Penal Law and Criminology
  • Ms. Elsava Schöner, Psychologist and former prison governor

The State Treaty is expected to enter into force on 1 September 2010. The Länder Commission will most likely take up its office in Wiesbaden in September as well.
